Pre-production phase
This is where we determine what features and what look the website will have. In this stage we often ask clients a series of questions to tailor the best package for them. But we will also ask them to come up with ideas of what they want as well. A good tool is to look at other sites to see what will work for them. For instance: - Look at the features (e.g. Do they have a shopping cart)
- The layout. Do you find it easy to navigate? Is everything in a place where you can find it?
- The overall look. Is it the colours used, the style elements or the type of images used that you like?
Design Phase
Once we have worked out all of the features and the look of a website, we then start to create the design. All of our designs are created in Adobe Photoshop, the professional industry standard image manipulation software. During this period we often ask clients to supply us with any logos, company colours or other marketing material we can use to create consistancy in their brand. Once the first draft design is completed a copy is sent to the client for a review process. Once reviewed, our team will make the relevant changes to the design and submit the design for review once more. This process of review and redesign can sometimes go for several cycles, but generally most clients sign off on a design after 2-3 reviews.
Code-Writing Phase
Once the design is finalised, the image is essentially broken up into pieces and then put back together in an interactive environment. This is when all of the complex code is written to various programming languages such as html, .css, .php, javascript etc.
This step is generally the longest and most involved step in the web production process. Once the coding has been completed, similar to the design phase, a review process is generally performed. Upon completion of the code-writing phase.
Content Upload
Now that the website is ready to be put online, we need to collect all of the information that we plan to put on the website. This can be text files such as Microsoft Word documents or Notepad files where they can literally be cut and pasted into the editor, ready for viewing. Images will need to be optimised and possibly cropped and enhanced before they are placed within the website. In addition to the great design team we have at Progressive Web Marketing and Design, we also have professional copywriters who can write your company text for you and professional photographers to capture stunning product shots and stylish location images.
Content Management System Training
It is this area where we truly excel. Standard training in the use of Content Management System software is often overlooked or poorly conducted. Not only do all of our web packages include training as standard, but we also include a series of free video tutorials where clients can watch how certain tasks are done. These videos use screen captures and audio commentary to explain in very easy to understand detail. So if you can't remember how to upload an image, watch the video and see which button to click and which property to enter.
